Who is Leverstyle?

Leverstyle's origin traces back to 1956, when Mr. Richard Szeto founded the shirt-making business during the golden age of the Hong Kong manufacturing industry at the time. Since then, they have progressively evolved with the rapid changes of the apparel industry over the last 60 years.

Leverstyle meet the demands of designer and premium labels such as Paul Smith, Hugo Boss, Theory, All Saints, Vince, Rag & Bone, J.Lindeberg, Arc’teryx and Helly Hansen.

Sustainability

Leverstyle is a certified B Corporation, a signatory to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s Fashion for Global Climate Action, and the first apparel manufacturer in the world to partner with WWF, World Wildlife Fund, as a pilot member of their Low Carbon Manufacturing Program; subsequently honoured a Silver Award for Leverstyle's low carbon footprint initiatives.

Leverstyle is also a founding member of the Sustainable Fashion Business Consortium, a group of like-minded Hong Kong-based apparel and textile companies committed to promoting sustainable practices.

They are progressive with the adoption of eco-friendly energy and efficient energy practices, such as the use of solar panels, natural gas boilers and LED light sources. We carefully monitor and seek innovation in energy and water consumption, air quality and waste management. For example, they developed a proprietary zero-discharge wash that eliminates waste-water discharge in the laundry process.

Leverstyle thrives to source sustainable and circular materials including organic cotton, BCI cotton, recycled polyester & rayon fabrics, as well as degradable plastics and polybags. They provide materials and fabrics from mills with sustainability certifications such as GOTS, GRS, Blue Sign, OEKO-TEX®, BCI, ZDHC, and more.

Ethical Manufacturing

The production facilities in their international manufacturing platform meet international certification standards such as ISO14001 which focuses on energy-saving, water-saving, waste water treatment, and chemical management. They follow the customers’ chemical management guidelines, as well as ensuring all the chemicals used in washing have qualified testing reports and meet ZDHC’s MRSL requirements.

Leverstyle support initiatives to end human trafficking and modern-day slavery. We contribute to the NGO Not for Sale that works to protect people and communities around the world, and are part of the AllSaints support community.

In 2006, Leverstyle became one of the first apparel manufacturers in China to become certified for SA8000, one of the world’s strictest responsibility standards. They strictly adhere to both local laws and international rights norms.

Lever Charity also runs an active apparel donation program, with one item donated to charity for every 1,000 garments sold. Recent recipients include Crossroads, the Salvation Army, Savers, and Lions Clubs International Shenzhen.

Leverstyle is a member of HERproject, the women’s health and wellbeing programme run by Business for Social Responsibility. In their peer–educator model a selection of workers are trained as trainers, then roll out a health training programme to all workers across the factory.
